Quiksilver Crowns Josh Moniz 2010 ???King of the Groms??? Regional West Coast Winner”
this was the headlines everywhere on the internet yesterday. my nephew josh moniz got the biggest win of his life!!! he beat 48 of the top groms in america at california. even beating surf stars like kanoa igarashi, kalani david, and koa smith. now only did josh win $400, josh will be going on an all-expense paid trip to the Quiksilver Pro France to compete in the Global King of the Groms Championships this september. a free trip to europe? way to go josh!!! i’m so happy that each of the boys shine in their own way. seth, josh, and isaiah keep on pushing each other and that’s what’s taking them to the top. andy and bruce irons were 2 competitive brothers, now there’s 3 brothers that just don’t want to lose. as for me, i’m going to sit back and enjoy every win these boys get. i couldn’t be more proud of these boys….
here’s josh’s comment after winning:
Winning the King of the Groms feels super good,??? says Josh. ???I didn???t think I was going to able to win it, so I???m super stoked! I???m really excited to be going to France and I???ll be bringing my dad.???

A suspect, who is still at large, robbed a man returning to his car after surfing at Diamond Head last night, police said.
The 35-year-old man had gotten out of the water and was heading back to his car at about 8:15 p.m. when he noticed a man in the back of his vehicle.
Police said the suspect demanded the victim’s property and hit the surfer in the back of the head with what appeared to be a black handgun before fleeing.
No description was provided of the suspect.
