when i see things like this, i get really happy. for one, this is my family. and two, i took the photos. for me, shooting family is probably the biggest reward for me. to see them progressing in the sport they love and watching them grow up so fast is awesome. the only bummer thing is that i can’t carry them, or squeeze their cheeks anymore. that part sucks. and when we all get older, i’ll have all the photos to document their careers. that’s the motivation i get for shooting and that’s what keeps me going!!! and going!! and going!!!
kelia is going to japan really soon so she better start practicing japanese. hey kelia, UNKO might mean “Uncle” in english, but in japanese: UNKO means “Shit” or “Poop.” please get it right and never forget it!!! i don’t want you calling my friends UNKO in japan. that wouldn’t be too nice….
i drove out to the north shore today. gosh, it was so beautiful out there and i could see why hundreds of tourist were enjoying the beaches. the traffic is crazy!!! i took a bunch of photos and i will tell you why i was out there later. but first, i still have some photos from yesterday to post….
i love photos like this. why? because you only get this angle if your in the water. shun is taking off and looking down the line thinking on how to destroy this wave. and talking about shun. Dear Shun mama and papa, shun doesn’t go back to japan on july 23rd like i thought, shun thought, and everybody else in hawaii thought this whole time. luckily i called the airlines to try to get him a good seat from a friend at china airlines. when they looked for his name on the july 23rd flight, it wasn’t there. they told me that shun leaves tomorrow. what???? yes, tomorrow the 21st. i called shun this evening and broke the bad news. i could tell in his voice that he was super bummed out. he’s loving the hawaiian style life, making so many friends, and surfing much better. his dream summer vacation is cut 2 days short and i feel bad for him. so yes, he is flying out tomorrow on the 21st and will arrive in japan on the 22nd afternoon. hopefully i can wake up early tomorrow morning and take him for a last dawn patrol at bowls before he gets on the airplane. shun did great on this trip, won his first big contest here, and will hopefully take this momentum into the contest season in japan. please give me a little more time to upload the video i took of his final victory. you will all be proud of this little boy!!! see you all soon!!
and last, i want to thank Jerry and Debora Driscoll, the owners of the North Shore Soap Factory for the wonderful gifts and prizes for our upcoming AUGUST 14th Summer Bash Party in japan. and thank you for these 2 wonderful big mangos!!! i’m still collecting prizes for the party so let me know if your interested. as our thanks, we are going to introduce each and every one of you on Go-Naminori.com. stay tuned!!! photos and links coming soon!!!
