today was one of those lucky sunday’s! i woke up and checked the waves. it was terrible on the south shore because of the onshore south/west winds. i was worried because i was going to take Osada-san and Yuki-san surfing all day. i pick them up and planned to go to diamond head because it handles the wind better. then as we were driving there, i saw the coconut trees dead still. huh? that meant the wind stopped so i did a u turn and headed to bowls. the waves were absolutely perfect!!! perfect glassy and so many waves coming in one after the other. we paddle out and have the best session. only 2 local friends out so Osada-san and Yuki-san were catching waves from the peak going right and left. we scored! then after 3 solid hours of surfing, everybody finally figured out the waves were good. but the wind came onshore again, super junky, and really crowded so we went in.
i took Osada-san surfing last year and the strong south/west winds made the waves junk all over the place. we ended up surfing at diamond head but i remember the waves being terrible. so today was the day to turn things around on his image of surfing in hawaii. he was stoked and so was i! we paddled out in the afternoon and right as we got out, the wind died again and the waves were perfect! what a lucky day for us!
for lunch, dimsum at the best chinese restaurant was the choice! the sweet/sour cabbage noodles is my favorite fried noodles in the world! some dimsum on the side with hot tea to wash it down. my best chinese recommendation for the island of oahu.
super cool honeymooners. both hooked on surfing and both looking so happy.
oh, and for desert we ordered the sesame balls. the best in hawaii!
after lunch, we needed to digest so i took them to one of my power spots in the mountain. the single road that leads to eternity! i feel like i can walk right up to heaven every time i come up here. diamond head view on the left, pearl harbor view on the right, the smell of ginger and guava, the sound of the trees and birds, the cool breeze, the fresh air, and the feeling of life at its finest time. i didn’t want to leave.
once a month i eat the INA Bento from Kokorotei. the best bento in hawaii and now that i think about it, i don’t think anybody on this island eats as good as i do. it’s the best of the best every day and every night!
and want to thank Kana-chan for my favorite cookies from hokkaido! i love it! this is something i don’t like to share because i can eat it all by myself!
thank you all again for giving me such a great day and a great life! i’m going to sleep and can’t wait to wake up tomorrow morning! going surfing all day again with the wonderful Osada-san honeymooners! good night.
