gosh, the real estate market in hawaii is crazy. i was driving near diamond head the other day seeing all the open houses for sale. every home or condo over $1M. while the average home in the United States is $177,450, the average home on Oahu will cost you $677,250. so expensive! i remember my grandpa telling me stories of how he bought houses for $10,000 back in the good old days. now the very same houses are worth over $1M. so if you want to buy in paradise now, it will cost you. a lot of families are moving to the mainland because it’s much more affordable.
take this house in Las Vegas for example. it’s a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 2,974 square feet home with a two-car garage, bar, and granite countertops. a dream house for most people. and this house is selling for only $300,000. you can barely get a 400 square feet studio condo here in hawaii for that price. but for me, i’d take a small condo and hawaii over the big house and las vegas. there is no way i can move away from hawaii and there is no way i will.
oh, been bumping into a lot of go-naminori viewers recently. want to say thank you to everyone for checking out the site and my blog. super stoked! to the local brother i met in longs the other day, “thanks for checking us out everyday! thank you for coming up to say hello. that’s so cool how you moved to the mainland for 10 years and finally came back home last month. stoked go-naminori was your way to stay connected to hawaii. welcome back to paradise and i’m sure you appreciate hawaii a lot more now. take care of your family and surf your dreams!”
and to the japanese surfer i met out bowls, “thanks for checking out my youtube videos. sorry i didn’t update it for a while as i’ve been super busy. but now at your request, i will make time to do another video of surfing in hawaii. just for you! stay tuned!”
