well, winter is finally here! been super cold both in and out of the water. some hail falling from the sky, and when i get home at night, my inner bones are still shivering. keep warm!
i’ve been diving out around this island for over half my life. so i’ve found a lot of spots that offer different things. there is one particular spot outside of waikiki that turtles and sharks hang out. i can go there everyday and see the same sharks and same turtles. it’s their home and since the reef out at waikiki is mostly flat, they come home to this cave that is 35′ deep.
see me down there? the fish and sharks are all in the hole. once i go down and wake everybody up, the turtles start swimming around and so does the shark. pretty cool natural aquarium.
almost all the time there will be a turtle swimming on the surface. they are super tame and will even swim up to you. i took Yumi-san out there for her first turtle experience.
i say 99% of the time they will be at that very spot. it’s more like 100% but nothing in life is a guarantee.
then there is another spot where the water is so blue and amazing. perfect for a photo like this. Yumi-san never snorkeled in her life until this past trip. now she’s a mermaid! i’m sure her life will never be the same. and i’m sure she already misses hawaii. that’s what the ocean can do to you.
