Ant Noodle Soup or Ali Bakso….

259

good morning. surfing today. town or country. take your pick!! see you in the water…

i have to say that my stomach is pretty strong. i can eat street food in third world countries with little problem. i say little because sometimes there is a problem. but i want to experience the lifestyle and the only way to do it is to live it… this is a street stand in the country side of indonesia. bakso is noodle soup and i wanted to try this one out so i stopped the car…

before i order, i always check for rats, roaches, and bugs. this time, there were just a few so it looked safe and clean… i tell the lady “satu bakso” which means one noodle soup please…

my favorite part is watching them prepare the food… ummm… looking good…

now to top it off with chicken balls… ummm… looking good….

this is the final product. it took 5 minutes and cost $1. i sat down, pulled out 2 dead ants, ate a bit, pulled out more ants, ate more, pulled out more ants, and ate it all, including drinking all the soup. i have to say that besides the 15 dead ants or so, it was delicious…. would i go back there again? oh yeah!!!
