last time Yumi-chan was in hawaii, she gave me an envelope for me to pass on to Davis for the orphanage. i kept it on my desk and glanced it at a lot. i was thinking of sending it, but at the same time, thought it would be another motivation factor for me to hand deliver it myself. it worked! so actually passing it on to Davis when i got here meant a lot to me, meant a lot to Davis, and probably meant a lot to Yumi-chan. Love for the kids from japan to hawaii to cambodia. thank you Yumi-san!
i was amazed by all the projects going on here. they breed pigs, raise chickens, plant fruit trees, and all other projects happening. it’s like a self sufficient community. now i know why they call it “Our Village.”
there are 11,000 chickens laying fresh eggs every day. then they sell the eggs to restaurants and hotels in the city. and the money goes straight back to the kids.
very impressive.
and each kid has their own little garden, they plant vegetables, then sell it to the people outside the village. they get to keep the money for snacks. it’s so cute watching the little kids watering their plants.
i went to the library yesterday and seen a kid sitting outside by himself. come to find out, Davis sent him outside for a “time out.” yes, these kids are very active and also get into trouble. kids are kids and they have to learn how to listen.
then last nights karaoke night was so funny. the kids singing with so much heart! and the microphone isn’t even hooked up. haha.
leaving cambodia tomorrow and i’m not really looking forward to it. it’s going to be sad to leave these kids. ahhhh…
