remember the book “Into the Wild” i just finished a couple of month ago? well, the kid Christopher McCandless got inspired by this book called “On the Road” by Jack Kerouac. i just got this book and read chapter 1 a few days ago. now i could understand why Christopher left everything behind and went into the wild. i’ve been a traveler for the past 24 years and visited some amazing places and have millions of memorable experiences. i’ve backpacked through countries i hardly knew about. i’ve been to deep places around the world and thought that it couldn’t be any deeper. well, now i hope i’m wrong. there has to be deeper than the deep i’ve already experienced. there has to be places that will still fascinate me. and there has to be things that will satisfy my desire to keep searching.
Into the Wild and On the Road are 2 books about 2 different guys traveling in america. hitch hiking around and just going with the flow. Christopher died, and i don’t know what will happen to the guy in this book. after chapter 1, i’m totally inspired and interested in going deep and finding the deeper part of myself. i studied american history in school for half of my life so i have no interests, now it’s time to go deep into the other country i love, Japan. yes, i’ve already been super deep and been to places in japan where no other tourists visited. but i want more. i want much more. i’ve already been on my computer searching but i think i’m going about it the wrong way. i want to go somewhere that has no information. somewhere different, somewhere off the path, and somewhere i don’t know anybody. perhaps a tiny island with a small population, or in the mountains with the bears.
if anybody knows a place you think that would fascinate my hunger for something deep, please let me know and i’ll make it my next dream to go there! mahalo.
