yesterday was awesome! we experienced something not too many people in this world can. watching 60 or so amasan live their daily work lifestyle deep in japan. Abu is filled with culture going back hundreds of years. of the 300 people that live here, 100 are amasan’s. we found enough amasan’s to fulfill a lifetime of memories.
we boarded the boat of 2 amasan’s ranked pretty high in the village. a husband and wife team that have been diving for years and years. what i learned today could never be learned in a classroom. i will never forget this experience.
we got to dive with them in the morning, and after go to the fish market and watch them sell their catch. Abu is a brand name when it comes to abalone here in japan. it’s like the Chanel of perfume. after our dive, we drove more deep into shikoku to go surfing.
passed by TSSC to say hello to Yassan and Tomoko-san. gosh, this is already my 3rd time to shikoku this year. maybe come again?
everybody jumped into the water to catch a wave as i stayed on land talking story. then we went to Nonami to eat some okonomiyaki. i really wanted to thank Matchi for making this trip happen. if it wasn’t for him, today would have still been a fantasy for us.
experience shikoku! i love it here and have been loving it for the past 22 years!
thousands of photos and stories to tell. stay tuned!
