had a great time yesterday with Doi-san and his daughter Misaki-chan. last year was their first time ever surfing, and this year was their 2nd time. it was unbelievable on their progress!!! from the first wave to the last wave, perfect surfing!
Doi-san with great balance. looking forward and bending his knees. the key to a great ride!
Misaki-chan wanted to ride wave after wave. she had lots of energy with so many long rides and big smiles!
then today i surfed with Nakamoto-san. a cool surfer from osaka that only surfs isounora or hawaii. what a huge gap! today was a big step in his surfing career as the waves were huge!
overhead sets and not crowded at all. was it really sunday? people are still burnt out from all this swell for the past 3 weeks, but i am as hungry as ever. every wave i ride i’m a very happy man!
went to Choi’s Garden for lunch. it was my favorite place for the BBQ Spicy Chicken plate. WAS? yeah, was. we went there today and they just made new menus. and also new prices. the exact same BBQ chicken plate use to be $8. today, it was $12. OMG! to me, food doesn’t taste the same when prices go way up like that. i asked the waitress “what happened?” she told me “vegetable prices went up.” vegetable prices? anyway, it was good, but not as good as when it was $8. now i’m going to look for another lunch special place with good BBQ chicken. stay tuned!
in japan, i sip whisky with a ball of ice. i thought that was pretty cool. the reason is the ball ice takes longer to melt so it doesn’t water down fine whisky. i’ve been looking for ball ice here in hawaii and nowhere on this whole island sells it. you have to go buy a huge block of ice and hand carve balls out of it. frozen hands hurt! so last night, i did some research on ball ice and found a ball ice maker for sale! omg! i ordered it, it’s coming, and there will soon be ball ice in hawaii!
