where ever and when ever you travel, i highly recommend you getting a good guide. you’re only there for a few days and instead of wasting your time researching or getting lost, you could be enjoying every moment. take this moment for example. pull off the side of the road and enter one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Takami-san and Eri-chan get in the water as Naoka is swimming in the back. if we had no guide, there would be no way we would have found this magical place and had this magical moment!
meet the best Wakayama Guide! Kimura-san was born and raised in wakayama and is very proud of where he comes from. a lot of knowledge of so much history and so much culture in that huge prefecture. he was our perfect guide that showed us around and explained things. i’m sorry Kimura-san for sometimes calling you the “Wagamama Guide” instead of “Wakayama Guide.” haha. i was just joking and i really appreciate your kindness and warm heart in showing us your home. it was a great experience.
it was my last day in japan when Renosuke and Soutaro asked me “when can we go surfing again?” if it was anybody else, i would have said “are you crazy? i’m going home tonight, have to pack, have things to do, have work, etc..” but when it comes to kids, i’m pretty weak. i’ll drop anything because i was taught surfing when i was around 6 years old and the seed was planted. i know i can’t take these kids surfing every weekend, but i can do my best to plant the seed. a seed that will last forever if properly watered.
Soutaro Kimura is only 5 years old! omg, such a cutie!!! he was so serious when i was teaching him the basics on the beach. i knew he was going to do great just by his commitment.
this is Soutaro’s first wave of his life and he’s surfing on his own! i remember my first wave like it was yesterday, and i’m sure Soutaro will remember this wave for the rest of his life. great job Soutaro!! and thank you Uncle Kyle for taking these amazing photos.
on the last night, i was sitting down with Kimura-san having a jack/coke. we started talking and i heard him say the word “Priceless.” it lit up my face because the word “Priceless” is in the top 5 words on how i live my life. i was so stoked Kimura-san understood the meaning and i was so stoked we think the same when it comes to things that money can’t buy. Hey Kimura-san, this photo of your little Grandson is freaking PRICELESS!!!” KEEP THIS MOMENT IN YOUR HEART FOREVER AND DON’T FORGET TO WATER THE SEED! see you guys again very soon! as soon as tonight!
