as a surfer, you have 2 choices in your life. to focus in school, or not to focus in school. some surfers do it, some don’t. on top of that, you have another 2 choices regarding your education. public or private. as for me, i went through the public education system and it seemed to work out fine. public is free, private is not free.
i pass by Punahou School very often. telling everybody about the great graduates of this amazing and very expensive school.
first, tuition for the 2015 – 2016 school year for Kindergarten – Grade 12 is $22,050. so kindergarden to 12th grade is 13 years. that equals $286,650 for a complete education at Punahou. omg! so expensive!
some of the Punahou alumni include: Gerry Lopez (1972, 1973 Pipeline Masters Champion), Fred Hemmings (1968 World Surfing Champion and Hawaii State Senator), Carissa Moore (2011 ASP Woman’s World Champion), Michelle Wie, President Barack Obama, Steve Case (founder and CEO of American Online), Pierre Omidyar (founder of eBay), Jeff Hackman (founder of Quiksilver), David Hamamoto (partner of Goldman Sachs and CEO of Northstar Capital), and Judy Anderson (Miss Hawaii and Miss USA).
Wow! that’s a solid list of successful surfers and businessmen, including our president. proof that Punahou is an amazing school. you better start saving money.
now to change the subject, check out this video that just came out. Seth Moniz and Zeke Lau @ Liquid Aloha! amazing waves, amazing surfing, amazing footage, and amazing kids.
