like i said before, when we started the WE ARE ONE project, the most
important thing was to come to japan and bring smiles to the peoples
faces. sitting back in hawaii watching all the sad faces and tears
drove my heart into the ground. whether it’s money, food, sake,
chocolate, or vegetables, we are here to bring hope, support, and
happiness. and even though some of these aunties are waiting for loved
ones to be found, we are there to bring smiles and hope.
the really hard part for us is when we have to leave. to see them
waving at us in the rear view mirror almost breaks me. but the fact
that i’m going back there over and over throughout the years pulls me
back up. we keep telling everybody, “we will be back.” and i’m keeping
my word!
