do you know how i know when i’m falling behind? when i can’t keep up with things going on around me. everyday this year has been moving by way too fast. yesterday seems like years ago, and today seems like there isn’t enough time. don’t know how i find the time in these past 10 years but i’m sure having fun. and sometimes the only way to remember the millions of things is to go back and look into my blog of my life. haha.
Hiro-san brought all the best of the best fishing gear for our fishing trip yesterday. 4 poles, 4 reels, tackle, gear, and other fishing equipment worth over $8,000. i’ve never seen this kind of stuff before.
Hiro-san is a lure man. meaning, he uses only lures. when he came on with all his japanese jigging lures, i was thinking to myself “that stuff isn’t going to work!”
i was wrong! Michiyo-san got the first strike. a nice pole bender.
everybody was super stoked. the first fish is usually the most exciting.
great job girl! perfect for sashimi.
and of course, photo time! these 4 amigos were all classmates from junior high school. an amazing bond.
then Michiyo-san gets another fish. this time the fishes tail got tangled in the line. haha. so lucky!
Maki-san with the prized aku.
we went pretty far up the coast. here is Ugi-san capturing the beautiful moment.
waves are super rough here and many people die here each year. the action got slow. it was time to go back to the harbor and Hiro-san wasn’t too happy because he didn’t catch a fish yet. all that gear he brought over from japan and no fish. i started to feel sorry for him. we headed back to the harbor and did one last drop before sunset.
then BAM! the big pole bender! we were all yelling and screaming!
Hiro-san with his prized GT. catching a fish like this is like getting barreled for a surfer. so exciting! moments like this are priceless.
Hiro-san proved me wrong. his japanese techniques caught hawaiian fish. amazing!
good day, good beer, and good memory. thank you Maki-san, Hiro-san, Michiyo-san, and Ugi-san for the wonderful fishing afternoon.
and good sunset. omg, it was so beautiful!
Maki-san with the catches of the day. check out these next photos of what they did with the fish. looks so delicious! hope to see you hard core lure fishermen again!
