tourist get kidnapped in the philippines all the time. mostly in the southern islands of mindanao. i flew into Davao City before and was pretty scared. it was right after 9/11 so kind of freaky to be honest. that was 13 years ago and ever since then, many tourists have been kidnapped and killed. kind of a scary thought.
just the other day, this canadian tourist had his head chopped off because his family or government couldn’t come up with the 21 million dollar ransom. it’s so sad that these things still go on. and even more sad that the terrorists never get caught. mindanao is one of the most beautiful places in the world. and also one of the most dangerous too. maybe i’ll stay away for a while.
