thanksgiving day in waikiki. where is everyone?
my iPhone is broken so i thought nobody would be at the only open apple store in waikiki. i was wrong. they told me i had to wait 2 hours. there was no way i’m waiting for 2 hours on thanksgiving day. i’d rather be catching waves. so i left.
on the way out to the north shore, i stopped by to pick up Aoi, some food, and some drinks.
wow, the waves were super fun! only top pros out practicing. good to surf, and good to watch.
my sister and friends getting the thanksgiving dinner ready. they were in the kitchen from 8am to dinner time. lots of love going into the meal.
Aoi’s fourth time surfing here so he knows what to do. i taught him about the waves, the current, the locals, and the reef. now he has to figure out the rest on his own.
surfing empty sandbar waves with the worlds top pro surfers is like a dream come true for a kid. this is how you grow from a kid, to a man.
and yes, i had my private photographer catching all the action.
thanksgiving is a day to be thankful. and i’m very thankful for my wonderful family.
and the dishes kept on coming and coming. and we kept on eating and eating.
i’m really proud of Micah Moniz for being everybody’s big brother. he watches over the kids as if they’re all his younger brothers. i’m so proud of his big heart.
and yes, the food kept on coming and coming. and we kept on eating and eating.
Aoi getting the taste of hawaiian local style on the north shore. look at that smile!
two of four turkeys.
Seth Moniz and Kelia Moniz in the kitchen. two world champions! Aoi will have his time in the future!
good to spend time with the family. something i’m trying to do more often. life is short so i don’t want to miss all the love that goes around.
once the party started, my camera went into my pocket. 50 people being thankful for everything. there were many world champions and top surfers from lots of countries in the world. surfing and thankfulness was the vibe. a vibe we all love!
