flying into saporro was much more easy than riding the train. compare a 1.5 hour flight to a 16 hour train ride? i can’t believe i did that last year. probably never again.
happy to hook up with Kimura-san. it’s his first time seeing snow like this. he was so happy looking around and seeing snow everywhere. like a little kid. haha.
we asked the girl at our hotel for the best local izakaya and went straight here. omg, it was amazing! started off with sashimi.
this is called sharako. i love this!!! the juicy flavors explode in your mouth.
seen this hairy crab swimming in the tank.
ten minutes later, he was on our table. omg, crab sashimi! it was the sweetest ever!
always a great conversation over some beers. it will be Kimura-san’s first time snowboarding so he’s getting nervous. i’m actually a little nervous for him because i got super frustrated snowboarding for the first time. why? because i didn’t listen. and being that Kimura-san doesn’t listen at all, he’s going to have a hard time. so my advice to him was “LISTEN!!!” haha.
ended off our wonderful dinner with fresh hokkaido raw oysters. so sweet!
then took a walk on the snowy streets. saporro is such an interesting city. good food, nice people, and just so alive.
then we heard about this goat meat bbq restaurant and had to try it out. i ate here 5 years ago and it was amazing. and it still is!
cheers to our second dinner in one night! i can’t believe we at as much as we did.
then the walk back to our hotel was fun too. then came across this frozen lake. wow!
then in our hotel room for our last whisky drink. it was Jack Sinatra and it went down so good! anyway, heading to the mountains this morning. going to see snow everywhere and should be surfing the hills later today. i can’t wait! i just hope Kimura-san LISTENS!!! haha.
