and omg, i miss this so much!!!
back in 2005, i got into film photography so i went to visit my long time friend Mike Prickett. i went to see him because he was the best in the world at that time and i wanted his expertise. i ended up buying his old camera and that’s how i started shooting professionally. i got hooked!
then in 2012, Mike did something only heroes do. he was working in Tahiti filming a Hollywood film when a coworker got into trouble 220′ deep down underwater. Mike went down to save him and gave him his own air. Mike ran out of air on the way up and he got decompression sickness. he ended up getting paralyzed from the chest down. the doctors said he will never walk again. when i went to visit him at the hospital shortly after, he was in good spirits like he always was. Mike’s the kind of guy that doesn’t want anyone feeling sorry for him.
fast forward to the present. Mike is walking, Mike made his own company, and Mike is doing what he loves most, filming.
throughout my life, i get inspired by special people. Mike is one of them. a true friend since we were in High School, and a true friend today. i’m so proud of his will to never give up. and he is one of the main reasons i won’t give up in anything. good to see you back in the ocean brother Mike. i’m so proud of you!
