Forgotten Cuba Day 5

forgot to post this one too from my last day in Cuba. many many more photos coming later…

Day 5: Cubian Opinion

it’s my last day so i get up early and walked the city. watching shops opening up, kids going to school, and people collecting all the garbage off the streets. just enjoying the everyday Cuban lifestyle. my flight is at 1:30pm so i shower, check out of my apartment, and walk to central park to find a taxi. i know it will cost $20 for a cheap beat up taxi. umm??? then i see a guy polishing his 1948 red chevy convertible. i strike up a conversation with him talking about his awesome ride. i ask him how much to take me to the airport. he says $40. i say $20. we decide on $30 and i hop in. the 40 minute ride to the airport was amazing. i’m in a 1949 classic chevy convertible loving the ride. my first time in one so it was well worth paying $10 more for this awesome ride. i get his phone number and tell him “next time i come to Cuba, please pick me up at the airport with this.” we shake hands, and i go into the airport.

i got here at 11am. my flight was supposed to leave at 1:30pm. everybody told me Cubana airlines isn’t reliable and they were right. my flight was delayed to 4:05pm. omg! so now i’m sitting here killing 5 hours of time. no wifi so don’t know when you will be getting this. i’ll go through the photos i took on this amazing trip, relive the moments, and smile.

now for my opinion on Cuba. i’ve been to many counties around the world. some the same, some different. but no other country even compares or comes close to Cuba. it’s the most unique country in the world. you really slip back in time and are fascinated 24 hours/day, yes, even in your sleep. the people are so friendly, always wanting to give you a hand. just bummed i couldn’t speak spanish because almost no one speaks english here. it is totally safe too. there are police walking around everywhere and their main goal is to protect the tourists. i felt safer here than i feel in hawaii. Cuba is a beautiful country with everything. so much history, so much culture, so many beaches, and so much delicious food.

now the question is: would i come back here again? yes and no. if i can come back here within the next 6 months, i would because there are many places i wanted to go visit but didn’t have enough time. after 6 months, i don’t think i’ll come back because i know america will have major influences here and i’m not into that. it would kill me to see starbucks, mcdonalds, subway, and other big companies. things are chaining here already so fast. just in the 5 days, i swear things changed. will get into that later. first, i have to get on my flight and get home. a long road with 3 connecting flights cutting through mexico and LA. see you all soon! adios amigos!
