Reclaiming Kaho’olawe

312

look what i have on my dinner table. a sweet gardenia from my yard, and the beginning of a new avocado tree.

i can’t believe how sweet this gardenia smells! i planted this one 3 years ago and this is the first flower ever!

it’s crazy how things grow. can’t wait to plant it in the ground!

after 7 years, Tohoku is rebuilding. this wall looks just as strong as the people who survived. so happy to see so much forward progress.

i just watched the most amazing documentary about the island of Kaho’olawe. i learned so much about war, military, destruction, bombs, and everything else that happened to this poor island. now the people are reclaiming it and trying to bring it back to the beautiful island it once was. watch this documentary and you will learn a lot about how the Hawaiians stuck together to take their island back from the US Military.
