ok, there is a big controversy about foil surfing right now. some people love it, some people hate it. the people that love it, do it. the people that hate it, don’t do it. yes, it’s dangerous just like anything else in life. the crazy thing about foiling is i’ve been seeing a lot of old time friends. Hawaiians, policemen, jujitsu world champions, surfing world champions, pro surfers, boxers, lawyers, lifeguards, bodyguards, watermen, North Shore boys, and legends all doing it. most surfers these days don’t even know some of these guys. so when i heard a friend that’s not even from Hawaii complaining about it, i said “there’s nothing you can do or say so don’t do or say anything. just get out of the way. you wouldn’t want to piss off a local flying down the line with a samurai sword attached to the bottom of his surfboard.”
