Spearfishing vs. Dolphin Watching

275

woke up early for a spearfishing tour. loaded up Mayuki and headed out to sea. then on the way…

passed right by a pod of over a hundred dolphins! should we continue on and go to my spearfishing spot? or should we stop and swim with the wildest dolphins on this very rare opportunity. we chose the 2nd which was by far the right choice. the dolphins were just so relaxed and loved our company.

if you go to the West side and go on a dolphin tour, you go with a hundred people all yelling and screaming freaking the poor dolphins out. but here, there is absolutely nobody around. just one lucky person swimming and playing with a hundred dolphins. you can’t beat that!

we swam with the dolphins for a very long time. watched them play with each other, and even watched them hunt fish. they ended up at Waikiki and then disappeared into the deep blue.

thank goodness i had my camera because i got the most amazing photos! i will never forget this wonderful morning! we felt so at ease and didn’t want to kill fish after that so we just went in, had morning tea, and reminisced our dolphin encounter.

then the foil reports started to come in. Carter checked out DH and it was looking super fun.

then he went to Sandy Beach and that was looking good too!

Tony was up in the mountains on his dirt bike scouting new foil spots.

had my little princess on the East side checking the waves for me.

i sat at DH for 1 hour waiting to decide where to go. then Micah stops by and says “Uncle, let’s go to Bowls.” i said “shoots!”

hard to leave DH because it was looking good. but when the guy that got me hooked on foiling goes somewhere else, i follow closely. Micah was snowboarding Niseko on Sunday, then took a flight back to Hawaii, landed here today which was Sunday, and foiled this evening. he told me he couldn’t believe he snowboarded in Hokkaido and foiled in Hawaii on the same day. thank goodness for time zones!

everyday is a learning experience. today i did something i was dreaming about. now life will only get better…

Micah, Buddy, and i foiled until pitch dark. we had the time of our lives….
