check out Shui-kun one year ago.
and check out Shui-kun one day ago. taller, stronger, and cooler.
my sister sent me these photos of the Volcom Pro when Joshua came out of the water after winning the contest. i’m like the oldest guy in this photo but also probably the happiest. i knew Joshua from the day he was born, watched him grow into a fine young champion, and now moments like this are the reward for me.
this was one of the happiest days in my life. just by having faith in a kid and watching him do the rest. the first Hawaiian blood Volcom Pipeline Champion. yes, that makes Hawaiians very proud.
Takahashi-san always tells me i could be a millionaire in a couple years if i do dolphins and turtle tours. i always tell him that it’s not about the money for me. it’s about respecting the ocean i love so much. i actually get sad watching the overcrowded tourist dolphins tours on the West side. there is no way i would want to do something like that. i’d prefer to leave these beautiful creatures alone. then i can have special moments like this just with good friends…
ok, it’s travel time! my last surf trip was in Taiwan. good waves, good food, and good friends. next month i’m planning to go on another surf trip with good waves, good food, and good friends. can’t wait!
yes guys, Taiwan can look like Indonesia if you know where to go.
and the markets are bright and interesting. full of color!
and yes, i’ll be taking my foil board on my next trip and exploring some new waves. Foil Your Dream…
