i get asked a lot, “how do you know about all those places in Japan?” one answer is “friends.” and another answer is “exploring.” in this case, my friend Matsu told me about this amazing restaurant i always wanted to eat at.
this is super Japanese and you could tell the chefs prepared the meals with so much passion. it was like art!
and the counter is the only place i want to sit. this is where i watch and learn. one day my kitchen will look like this. and i’ll invite you all over for dinner and drinks…
exploring some new and cool Jazz bars on this past trip too. feels so soothing…
and i’ll never forget this beautiful park. i could have sat there all day watching all the girls in beautiful kimonos walk on by.
another night, another Jazz bar…
another day, another classic street. i use to watch old Samurai movies and this is the kind of places they filmed it. and i almost could feel like a Ninja would jump out at any time. it was so real.
also been getting asked how Sumatra was. i have 2 answers to that question. good waves, but freaking far! i’m not sure if my body is ready for another trip like that anytime soon.
the Sumatran Tiger “Kimura-san.”
watched these kids play in the little waves all day long. they would get a piece of wood and try to surf on it. when i see things like this, i wish kids would trade in their smart phones and do things like this. more healthy, and more happy!
i remember paddling out in the dark with Matsu and approaching a perfect wave that kept on getting bigger and bigger the closer we got to it. i still can’t believe we were the only ones out that epic morning. this is the very reason why i wake up before the cows and chickens. you won’t get to experience things like this in your dreams guys. this is what real dreams are made of…
try it, and you’ll love it…
