Foiling: Day 2

230

i’ve surfed so many times with Nakahodo-san before. but this time is different. after 2 days of foiling, i seen the brightest smiles ever. yes everybody, it’s that exciting! the joke going around with the Hawaiian foilers group is, “when a friend asks if he can borrow my foil, i tell him, no way you can borrow my foil. i’d let you borrow my wife before i let you borrow my foil.” haha.

when i teach surfing, i tell everyone to go slow. and when i teach foiling, i tell everyone to go even slower.

if your board and foil is set up right, it will life gradually as you pick up speed. if it’s set up wrong, you will kill yourself.

once you pick up speed, you start to take off like an airplane. this is when your eyes pop out of the sockets, this is when you can’t breathe, this is when you pee in your shorts, and this is when your life will change.

and the higher you get, the more exciting it is. then you will just want more and more. amazing job Nakahodo-san after just 2 days of foiling. so far, you’re the fastest learner of us all.

came in and my friends daughter wouldn’t leave me alone. i told her to get out of the photo but she wouldn’t. haha. such a cutie…

pretty sad what’s happening in Japan. right when they say rainy season is finished, it freaking rains. over 50 people died, and many more missing. i hope my family and friends are safe.

throughout the 28 years i’ve been going back and forth to Japan, i’ve seen so many images of destruction from Mother Nature. but the Japanese people always bounce right back. it’s the strength that my Grandparents taught me that makes things better…
