Bowls was tiny this morning so we decided to go somewhere challenging. Back to the secret spot. Chest high and wild!
Today was all about connecting with the ocean. This is one of the hardest places to surf on the island so if you can catch a wave here, you can catch a wave anywhere. We ended up getting some really fun waves.
Then went to buys snacks for Mateus’s graduation.
I’ve been seeing more and more Japanese snacks on the island. Kind of expensive though.
I swear I saw these in a 100 yen shop in Japan. Well, that’s 4x more expensive here in Hawaii.
Leaving the store, I saw somebody’s shopping cart hit this car. Of course the person pushing the cart was nowhere to be seen.
Then went to Mateus’s elementary school. They were honoring the JPO’s today so I went to watch Mateus receive his reward.
JPO stands for Junior Police Officer. It’s a program in elementary school where you volunteer to make sure all the kids are safe coming and going to school. You stand on the road directing traffic so it’s pretty cool. When I was in elementary school, being a JPO wasn’t so cool. All the kids use to call it “Japanese Police Officers.” It’s so crazy how racist kids were back in the 70’s. Anyway, congratulations Mateus for getting an award for being an outstanding JPO!
