SURFING HAWAII: PERFECT DIAMOND HEAD WITH JAPANESE SURFER GIRLS
good morning. what a lucky guy. i threw my 5’10 in my car yesterday and headed down to the beach. i seriously thought the waves were going to be knee/waist high but when i pulled up, it was overhead and going off!! i had no leash but didn’t care. i paddled out and had such a fun session. it feels good to be back home. the waves are looking pretty fun today again. same like yesterday but looking super fun. i’m going surfing. see you in the water!!!
i went to my car that’s parked on the street. there were plants growing inside and out of my tires. i’m surprised it even started up….
i drove through waikiki yesterday on the way back home. it was just another beautiful day in paradise….
i had this photo on my desktop in a folder somewhere. i don’t even remember how i got it but i want that bottle of kirby daniel’s…. i would love to fill it up with shells and put it on my shelf….
**and last, here is a video i shot this past summer. i picked a day to meet mari-chan down there. just so happened, that day was the best day of the year, or maybe the best day in 10 years. the waves were so perfect and i haven’t seen diamond head like that since then. watch this video but don’t expect to see diamond head like this. this is as good as it gets…
Golfers vs. Surfers….
i had to bring back my walking stick and spear gun so i threw it into my board bag. i left my board in japan because i’m going back there anyway. so i pull up to the check-in counter and spoke only english as usual. the girl asked me if i had a surfboard. i said no. i told her it was my mt. fuji hiking stick. she got out the tape measure and started measuring the bag. then she was talking to the other girl in japanese saying that this is a surfboard bag so what should she do? then i jumped in with my japanese and said “hey, just because my walking stick and some clothes is in a surfboard bag, your going to charge me for a board? it’s a typical case of harassing a surfer. i bet if i put my walking stick and clothes in a nike golf bag, i would have been treated much better…..
oh, i wanted to thank everybody for the wonderful emails and calls. yes, it was my birthday. i came back from a trip and when i pulled up to rise and shine, nobody was there. i walked into the office and i seen this beautiful cake with candles burning. matsuo, akko, and naoka. thank you soooooo much!!!!
hawaii is the most beautiful place in the world. i use to wonder why so many tourist come here every year. now i don’t. it’s pretty simple. the aloha spirit is alive and you can feel it right when you get off the plane. if you’ve been here before, you know what i’m talking about. and if you haven’t been here before, you don’t know what your missing….
and last, thanks again for all the comments about the new GO-NAMINORI WEB MAGAZINE. on the first day it came out, our website crashed because so many people were looking at it. i’m pretty stoked!!! there are almost 200 pages of photos, photos, and photos. wanted to thank everybody that was involved in this huge project. and to be the first surf web magazine in japan is huge. and it’s free!!! i’m glad to be a part of history….
