Barbecue @ Go-Naminori House….

i have these charts so i went to check out the points where the navy ship ran aground. when i found out where, i couldn’t believe how shallow it was. no wonder it got stuck for 4 days…

see this red buoy? this is where the navy ship got stuck. see that big tanker boat way on the outside? that’s where the navy ship was supposed to be….

see the coral? i grabbed a couple from the bottom just to show you what the reef looks like now. it reminded me of the dynamited reef in the philippines. all dead…

when i went diving yesterday with red sea kyle nakamoto, and surf rider foundation ryo kubota. BROOKS BAEHR from KGMB 9 news showed up to ask us about the reef. they did a main feature on the news last night. this is kind of a touch subject for me..

**HERE’S WHAT I THINK. SHIT HAPPENS IN THIS WORLD. WHETHER IT BE A NAVY WARSHIP, A LOCAL FISHING BOAT, A CRUIZE LINERS, OR ANY KIND OF VESSEL. GETTING STUCK ON THE REEF IS GOING TO HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. I SEE IT ALL OVER THE WORLD. IN FACT, I GET MY LITTLE BOAT STUCK ON THE REEF SOMETIMES TOO. WHO’S TO BLAME? I DON’T POINT AND WILL NEVER POINT MY FINGER TO ANYONE. SHIT JUST HAPPENS. THE SAD THING IS THAT THE REEF GETS DAMAGED AND WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. THE GOOD THING COMING OUT OF THIS STORY IS THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE IN HAWAII WHO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THE REEF AND ARE TRYING HARD TO FIX IT. COMPARED TO WHAT I SEEN 2 WEEKS AGO WHEN THE JUST PULLED THE NAVY SHIP OFF THE REEF, IT LOOKED MUCH BETTER YESTERDAY. I’M JUST HOPING THE REEF SOMEHOW SURVIVES….

THE DAMAGE TO THE NAVY WARSHIP= $40,000,000
THE DAMAGE TO THE PRECIOUS REEF= PRICELESS….
