Kenji Sawara….

ohayo gozaimasu… i’ve known kenji sahara for a long long time. we’ve been on trips together and i’ve worked with him a lot. what impressed me the most on our last mentawai trip was kenji worked so hard. he was shooting from morning to night. rain or shine. i was impressed and at the same time really happy to see him work so hard. i understand how hard it is to shoot from the water swimming for hours, and to shoot from the dingy in the hot baking sun. both hard and both taxing on your body. kenji didn’t complain once and did a great job. just wait till you see the photos. when i saw them, i was super stoked. and so was everybody else on that trip. i’d say that kenji took one of the best water shots in my life. if you connect with kenji sahara, you will get the best shot of your life too…. thanks kenji….

and for some weird reason, kenji always takes my camera without asking and takes photos of himself. there were 14 photos he took on the boat this night of himself that all looked like this. i guess it was too much jacksan for him… haha…

4 plus 1…..

good evening. the last time i flew to japan, i found out that JAL changed the baggage rules again. they made me put my suitcase on the scale to weight it. what the heck????

no more 70 lbs or 32 kilos anymore. now the only free baggage allowance is 50 lbs or 23 kilos. what will be next? no surfboards???? oh, i better not jinx it…. i guess the airlines industry is doing so bad now that they want to add extra charges for everything. that sucks for us surfers….

and last, this is my new 5’8 i was riding in japan. the fin system is called 4 plus 1. i can either ride it as a 4 fin, a 3 fin, a 2 fin, a single fin, or a 5 fin. and every combination will work differently. i set up the 3 fin combo with G-5’s and this board was like a rocket on knee/waist high waves. it made surfing small waves for me fun again….
