good morning. gosh, i was up since 5am when i thought i heard bombs outside. it turned out to be the fireworks for the start of the honolulu marathon. gosh, fireworks at 5am? are you kidding me? anyway, dirty water so i ain’t going to bother checking the waves. i’m staying clear of the water. maybe i’ll go join the marathon. anyway, have a nice day and expect traffic, and expect a lot of people walking funny this afternoon in waikiki. see ya…

christmas in hawaii is a wonderful time. there are so many happy things going on in hawaii. take yesterday, the keiki hula halau went over to nuuanu hale elderly house to dance hula and sing christmas songs…

and the elderly were loving it. i bet they were thinking “gosh, i remember when i was that young”…. these are our grandpa’s and grandma’s that paved the way for these kids…

if this was a concert with young people, i’d be front row. but i respect my elders so i stood way in the back, out of the way…

giving back to the elders. that’s the aloha christmas spirit. this is hawaii ne….

oh, good news for boat trip surfers. indian navy caught a boat with 23 pirates in the gulf of eden. now i hope they catch the other 2,000 or so…

and last, we aren’t the only place in the world getting flooded right now….

good evening. another wet wet yucky day. it’s still raining, it’s dark outside, the roads are flooded, no swells on the way, and the ocean is polluted so i can’t surf or dive. i think i’m going to go crazy!!! help….

i spun around diamond for a run but i seen a huge storm approaching so i cancelled. i’ve never seen it dark like this in a while. it’s like night time all day. know what i’m talking about? my lights in my house were on all day long…

even my secret outdoor salt water pool wasn’t looking too nice today. it was freaking cold….

i bet every shaper in the world was in their shaping room today trying to shape kelly’s new design after watching him easily win the pipe masters. he says it’s a 5’11 round pin. the widest part of the board is 4″ in front of the center of the board. check out how wide the nose is. only kelly slater is the kind of superman surfer that can make a huge impact on our surfing economy. i bet over 10,000 surfboards will be shaped because of what he did yesterday at the pipe masters. can one of our shapers please make me one? i want to surf like kelly slater too…

this was yesterday at haleiwa harbor. now you know why i won’t go near the ocean for a while. this stuff isn’t going away anytime soon. yuck… thanks surfline.com for letting me borrow these photos….
