WQS 1000 Local Motion Surf into Summer @ Bowls Results

I watched half of the WQS Surf into Summer contest from the water, and half online.  It wasn’t live but the scores were on WSL.  Put the Surfline Bowls camera on the side and you have live camera and scores.  I watched Isaiah Moniz advance heat by heat.  He beat some of the best surfers in Hawaii.

Isaiah got 2nd place overall but a winner to me.  He was the underdog but also the only surfer that was practicing early in the mornings up until when the contest started.  I’m super proud of my nephew and now he’s ranked #2 in Hawaii!

Nakamoto-san checking out the 2 monk seals taking a nap.  Cool.

June 18, 2023 Hawaii Surf Report

Ultra low tides continues…

Good morning 3am.
Ala Moana waist high and good.
Diamond Head chest high and good.
Light trade winds at 15mph.
Sunny and warm.
Going to surf.
Happy Father’s Day!

Surf Report Mistake

If you believed the surf report, you would have expected smaller and slower conditions than yesterday on this dropping swell.  Yesterday was waist high so today supposed to be knee high.

WRONG!  Thank goodness, the surf report was wrong.  The waves were double the size and double the consistency from yesterday.  And also much cleaner.

This wasn’t a set, but it was very clean and this girls best wave of the morning.  Thank goodness I was following close behind.

Yes, I think she needs a smaller surfboard now.  Then it’s going to get a lot more exciting!

Good job girl.  Surfing better and better each day.  Super proud of you!
