Gorilla Hearted Underground Fight Club

Yesterday was one of the smallest surf days of the year so we decided to explore the other side of the island.  It was pretty dam beautiful!  In a couple days, there will be some big waves right here from the storm called “Calvin.”  We will probably be back here.

Snorkeled the shore break and found some treasure and trash.

I’ve been a huge fan of UFC, K-1, MMA, Boxing, and every type of fighting.  But what fascinates me are the underground “Fight Club” events like this.  This was the most exciting event I’ve ever witnessed.  These 2 girls were like animals.  Trying to kill each other for 3 rounds.  Nonstop action!

My nephew Micah Moniz was the main event of the night.  When I saw his opponent, I was nervous.  He was big, calculated, and had a lot of fighting experience.  I was literally on the ropes watching the action.  Thank goodness Micah didn’t get hit that hard because of his excellent defense.  When I saw Micah connect a right hook, I knew he was going to be ok.

Our family and friends went to watch and support Micah.  He’s been training at Nito Boxing and he’s even more dangerous than he was before.  Good job Micah!

Honeymoon Hawaii

Had a super fun time with Hirayu-san and Megumi-san.  They just got married and this was their first surf in Hawaii.  The weather and conditions couldn’t have been any better.

We saw a turtle on the way out.  That usually means good luck!

I asked Hirayu-san why he started surfing.  He told me “7 years ago, I watched your Go-Naminori YouTube videos and it looked so fun so I thought I’d try.”  Ever since then, he kept on surfing and surfing.

We were practicing cutbacks and everything was looking good.

Then a dark shadow swims under us.

It was a big Eagle Ray!  So lucky.

Megumi-san caught the wave of the day and I was lucky to ride along the side of her.  Look at that smile!

She kept on riding and riding and riding.

Thank you guys for the wonderful session.  I wish you both a happy life full of surfing and smiles!
