Little Needles Stay Calm

Ala Moana was almost flat this morning so I took the girls to somewhere very challenging.  Overhead, powerful, strong current, and sharp rocks.  One of the girls got stuck on the rocks, the other one thought she was going to die.  It’s days like this you learn the most.  We’re not learning about doing cutbacks and off the lips.  We’re learning how to stay calm, stay calm, and stay calm.  Today was the perfect day for that.

When you see kids learning things like this at a very young age, it’s pretty cool.  My Grandpa taught us the same way and I’m hoping Mateus will find something he loves to do.

Mateus loves putting together puzzles and floor installation is similar to a puzzle.  That’s probably why he enjoyed it so much.

My Grandpa was also a principal so he always stressed to us how important education was.  Now it’s my duty to stress to the kids how important education is.  Taking Mateus to the University of Hawaii made him want to go to college.  I hope it happens.

I’m not scared of big waves or big sharks.  But I’m scared of little needles.  OUCH!

July 23, 2025 Hawaii Surf Report

From the Royal Hawaiian…

Good morning 3:15am.
Ala Moana waist high and good.
Diamond Head chest high and fun.
Trade winds at 15mph.
Sun, clouds, and haze.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

Peanut Butter Bobo’s!

Round 1:  Started off with a beautiful sunrise.

I just love days like this.  Only a few surfers out and conditions as good as it gets.

Mighty Mouse caught 20 waves again this morning.  And 10 more in the afternoon.  Riding 30 waves in a day is going to make you a smarter and better surfer.

Practicing the cutback and looking good.

Round 2:  A visit to Diamond Head.  The waves were fun with the high tide.  Mighty Mouse on her best performance of her life riding her shortboard.

Thank you Iilene for the snack.  It was delicious!

I just bought another GoPro today.  I hope this one lasts longer than a month.

I came home and witnessed something so amazing.  My brother was teaching Mateus how to install flooring.  And Mateus ended up doing the whole room!!!  It’s these experiences that kids will never ever forget.  Someday Mateus might live in this room.  And someday Mateus might install your flooring.  I was so proud of him.
