The Layback

Had so much fun surfing with this cool family.  Father, son, and daughter surfing together in the most beautiful conditions.  Turtles, long rides, and everlasting memories.

Seth Moniz is cool!

Early morning take off.

When I was a teenager, my favorite backside maneuver was the “layback.”  The coolest thing is watching the barrel coming over your head from behind.  Hundreds of barrels and 40 years later, I’m starting to do it again.  Thank you Neal Miyake for the Bowls shot!

The Perfect Bottom Turn…

Good morning 3:10am.
Ala Moana waist high and good.
Diamond Head chest high and bumpy.

Sunny and warm.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

Make the Impossible Possible

Had an amazing time surfing with Rio-san early this morning.  Compared to the other day, she caught twice as many waves, and three times longer.  Go Kaiser Cougars!!!

Picked up a new camera and went back out in the afternoon.  Fukuda-san on his first surf session.

We saw a turtle on the way out.  Signs of good luck!

Fukuda-san with the nice shot on a pretty big wave.  He was so stoked!

Boot Camp continues with riding the longboard and learning how to go with the flow.

Calm and smooth!

This kids arms are going to be very tired tonight.  He paddled until he couldn’t paddle anymore.

Spent another day fixing the last motor that needed to be fixed.  Very tricky to do electrical work in the water in a very tight spot.  You need special tools, patience, and a lot of thinking to make the impossible possible.
