Fish Head Soup

Where was everyone?  The sun was back out and the waves were small, but if you had the right board, it was fun!  Hashimoto-san had the right board and the right vibe.  Straight off the airplane today to surfing Bowls all to ourselves.

Hashimoto-san caught all the waves as I just rode behind cheering him on.

I like to see nice bottom turns like this.  It shows the flow of the board matching the flow of the wave.

Just the two of us out surfing and laughing.  Score!

I saved the head of one of the fish I got on our last diving trip.  Turned it into soup and it was so good!  I think I like the head of the fish more than the filets.

Winter is coming so there will be some perfect days of outer island diving.  I’m getting all my spearfishing gear tuned up because when those days come, I want to be ready.  I’m going to hunt for more fish heads!

Yesterday once more:  Storm Surfing!

Good morning 5:20am.
North shore chest high.
Ala Moana knee high.
Diamond Head waist high.
Trade winds at 20mph.
Sun, clouds, and showers.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

Lighting STRIKES!!!

We paddled out early this morning in the storm.  The water was clean but there were a lot of debris floating around.

Then the first storm comes right to us as we were surfing.  You couldn’t even see Diamond Head.

But Ishii san had no problem surfing in this storm.  We had Rockpiles all to ourselves!!!

The water was so clean today.  Right after this, the next storm was approaching.  I saw a lightning bolt followed by loud thunder.  It was scary, but beautiful at the same time.

Check this photo out.  I was riding on the side of Ishii san and then I saw lightning and the whole sky lit up.  Followed by loud thunder!  It was crazy!!!  I was so stoked to see it on the clip.

This is the first time I got someone riding a wave when lightning strikes.  Once in a lifetime maybe…
