Going Flying High

paddled out early this morning into the full moonlight.  that’s Carter ahead of me.

that’s Carter on the right shortly after.  can you still see the full moon?

after the perfect shoulder high waves yesterday, everybody thought the waves would be bigger today.  but everybody was wrong, including myself.  i couldn’t believe how much smaller it was.

and i couldn’t believe how crowded it was.

i made a bad choice today by taking out my shortboard.  tomorrow i’m not going to make that mistake again.  tomorrow i’m going to be flying high!

The Spotter

i have my binoculars for a reason.  i’m watching the competitors every move.  i can tell when they paddle for a wave, i can tell when they are looking for the lineup, and i can tell when their confident, stressed, or scared.  i like to see their emotions because i can learn a lot from each competitor.  Pipeline is very close to the beach so with my high powered binoculars, i can see everything…

around 20 of my friends sent me this photo that was on social media.  now do you realize how stressful it is watching Seth’s heats?  haha.  Rainos was the cool one. My sister Tammy was wild.  Kelia isn’t in this photo but she was the loudest.  and me, i was the most stressed.  haha.  the Pipeline Pro was one of the happiest moments of my entire lifetime.  i will never forget that day and i’m looking forward to more of those precious moments to come.  thank you Seth for making some of our deepest emotions come out.  this is priceless…
