1989 HPAC Poison

here is the 1989 Hawaiian Pro/Am Circuit final ratings.  during this time, i use to surf and train every day with Tony Moniz and Todd Mitsui.  the contests were in Kauai, Maui, Big Island, and Oahu.  i was rated #11th overall so that was a huge accomplishment for my career…

omg, i found the photos of the place in Bali where i got food poisoning!

this is what i ordered and 5 minutes after i ate it, i was running for the toilet.  my flight back to Japan was later that evening so i was alone all day practically dying.  curled up into a ball throwing up everywhere.  it was a nightmare.  i don’t even remember how i made it to the airport and on to the 7 hour flight back to Japan.

then after a 12 hour layover at Osaka airport, i had high fever and cold sweats.  i was sweating hot, but freezing cold.  i remember telling myself “just get on the flight and everything will be ok.” i just wanted to go home.  as i was boarding the airplane, i had fever, i was sweating like a pig, and my skin was as pale as a ghost.  the airport staff asked if i was ok and of course i said yes because i didn’t want to get pulled off the flight.  when i finally boarded, i found out i got upgraded to business class.  that pretty much saved my life.   food poisoning is the worst feeling in the world.  that was the worst 38 hours of my life.  i wouldn’t wish that on anyone…

Flying Forward

Kelia put up this big water slide for the kids.  i was watching the kids having so much fun!

then all of a sudden i see a big kid sliding down.  OMG, that’s Kelia’s husband Joe!  haha…

i really miss traveling with my family and friends.  we use to do this once or twice a year but since the pandemic, i haven’t traveled or seen anyone.  this was a night in Bali before heading to the island of Sumba.  i can’t wait to do this again…

when i’m in Bali, i’m getting one or two massages every single day.  at $5 for 1.5 hours of pampering, you would be crazy not to.

anyway, Japan and Indonesia once again banned foreigners from entering.  that means the only place i can fly to is the outer islands.  so i’m planning my next boat trip.  going to fly forward!
