The Friendly Island?

this year is my first year of towing into waves with the jet ski.  i still consider myself a beginner but i can understand the concept a lot more now.  i’m learning more about the ocean, and more about control.  these jet skis are so fast that it’s easy to lose control.  so keeping calm and confident is the key to success…

we found another perfect secret spot where you can only get to by boat or jet ski.  you can foil naked there and nobody will see you.  haha…

4 kids and 1 hose.  you can imagine how they all fight for it.  and the smallest kid “Keahi” always wins…

Kids Diving 101

teaching kids how to free dive is pretty fun.  i would go over to the Moniz house and sit them down on the table, and start from the very beginning.  they were all eager to learn, and they were all eager to get in the water.  i would always tell them to listen carefully because once you get into the ocean, i’m not talking.   you kids just watch and learn…

i would take them out into the deep blue water because i wanted the ocean to make an everlasting impression on them.  they didn’t even want to go in at first, but i told them if they didn’t, i would throw them in and leave them.  haha.  so when they went in, they would have one hand on the boat, and the other hand on each other.  they were so scared.  haha.

then i would tell them, “if you don’t go to the bottom and pick up sand, i’m not taking you guys home”  they thought i was a crazy uncle, but i knew that’s the way these kids had to learn.  once they picked up sand, you should have seen how happy they were.  now these boys are better divers than me.  that was the plan…
