My First Ulua

good to see the boys foiling over there in Japan.  there must be so many spots where nobody is around.  i can’t wait!

Toda-san looking very fast and light…

Matsu from the birds eye view…

and Azumi-san having the ocean to himself.  i’m going to fly with you boys soon!!!

this is the first big Ulua i’ve ever speared.  it was about 25 years ago off Barbers Point.  i remember checking this big hole and when i saw this monster inside, i took the shot.  when i hit it, it shook like a whale.  we had to wrestle it and had to secure it fast because that place is known for big hungry tiger sharks.   the longer it fights and bleeds, the sooner the sharks will come.    so half my adrenaline rush was spearing this monster, and the other half of my adrenaline rush was trying to get this fish back to the boat before the sharks ate it.  photo by Mike Woo

I love my FREEDOM!

Good morning 5am.
Ala Moana waist high and good.
Diamond Head shoulder high and bumpy.
Trade winds at 25mph.
Sunny and warm.
Going to shoot.
Have a wonderful day!

Hit and Run

i went into my closet and got out my camera gear.  i thought it would be a good time to start shooting photos again.  i use to do this every single day and it was really fun coming home to see the photos.

i saw my friend Rick out this morning.  he just started foiling but is getting good pretty fast.  he’s a good surfer so he’ll be doing off the lips soon.  he was very far away but look how clear this photo is!  you won’t get this clarity on an iPhone.  can’t wait to shoot again tomorrow!

there have been so many accidents recently.  look at this crazy one on the H-1.  omg, i’m glad nobody died.

can you imagine driving on the freeway in town then getting hit from another car?

this is the car that hit the other car and caused the accident.  the driver of this car got out and ran away.  and they still didn’t catch him???  come on police, we live on an island.  how can people get away with things like this?  anyway, please drive safe everyone…
