Choosing Japan or America???

what’s been the talk today is Japan’s law about duel citizenship.  it’s been the law for years but recently it’s been enforced to athletes.  here it is:

“The Japanese law requires anyone who was born with or obtained multiple nationality before the age of 20 to pick one of them before their 22nd birthday. Those who acquire citizenship of another country after turning 20 must decide which one to keep within a two-year period.”

that means if you have 2 passports, you have to choose one and give back the other at 22 years old.  with everything that’s happening with the Olympics where people are suddenly representing countries they never lived in before, that’s probably why.  so will you give up your USA citizenship to represent Japan in the Olympics???

Naomi Osaka just did.   she gave up her USA citizenship to be able to represent Japan in the Olympics.  for the money?  for the fame?  everybody has their own opinion on that one…

now everybody around me is wondering which country Kanoa Igarashi will choose? for the money?  for the fame?  we shall wait and see on this one…

Low Tide Foiling

i recently learned how to foil on the low tides now.  before it was impossible, but now it’s technique.  the trick is keeping your foil really high so it’s on the upper part of the water.  if you let the foil go deeper than this, you will hit the reef, fly off, and possibly hit your head on the reef.  so keep it high and fly.  keep on flying until you can’t breath anymore.   then take 3 deep breaths, and do it again!  that’s what i was doing this morning on the low tide and i was pretty much alone.  and alone is how i like it so i’ll be looking for the low tides from now!
