been getting a lot of emails about special hotel offers.  a 2-night stay at the Hilton for only $199?  glad to see the hotels finally giving back the “Kama’aina Rates.”  and i hope it stays even when this pandemic is over.  want to thank Chi-chan for sending me these photos from Maui.  omg, Lahaina looking like a ghost town!  and Ka’anapali beach looking like it did 50 years ago.  gosh, i love Hawaii like this.  we’re finally giving Mother Nature time to breathe…and surf spots looking sweet too!  maybe i’ll take Mayuki to Maui for a couple days…and want to with Seth Moniz a Happy Birthday!  he’ll always be a kid in my eyes…

Benji Brand texted me and said “hey uncle, i got fish for you.”    then he drives from the North Shore all the way to my house to drop it off.  such a good kid.  this is called a “Mu” and is the hardest fish to spear in Hawaii.  they are very smart and you have to dive deep and try to outsmart them.  in this case, Benji went down 60′ and came up the winner.  if it wasn’t for this pandemic, Benji would be practicing surfing on small waves.  but now, he’s learning how to survive…Benji gave me a Mu and a Omilu.  the cool thing about it is he scaled it and cleaned it for me.  that’s how i taught my nephews how to give away fish so i’m sure they must have told him “if you give my uncle fish, you better clean it.  and better clean it good!”  haha…  good boys!Matsu in Shonan with the magical foil.  it’s funny how Matsu, Toda-san, and i have the exact same equipment.  so when the 3 of us get together, we’re going to be The Three Stooges!  haha…
