Typhoon Style in Hawaii…

Matsuda-san Family.  this was 7 years ago…

this was yesterday… Kaito-kun 7 years ago…Kaito-kun yesterday…   when some overhead waves started to pump yesterday in the evening, Arai-san told me it felt like he was surfing a typhoon in Tsujido.  there were big sets that were lining up from the outside.  but when i say “go!” you go!!! and after great rides, you can’t beat the feeling of riding a huge wave!  then some huge close out sets rolled it.  i yelled “throw your board and dive under!!!!”  it was Arai-san’s first time doing this so i could imagine how freaked out he was.  it’s pretty dark down there.  haha… but Arai-san couldn’t have done a better job.  this was the 4th huge wave in a row.  haha!   then after getting overhead waves crashing on your head, surfing becomes much more relaxed, and much more comfortable.  just like this!  great job Arai-san!  see you tomorrow and i hope the waves are bigger!  now that you know how to dive under waves, you can surf even bigger waves than that!speaking of typhoons and Japan.  look at this huge one that’s going to hit!!!  omg, please be safe everyone!!!

Have a wonderful day!

10 Years of Excellence…

it was so exciting to paddle out with Matsuda-san and Kaito-kun this morning.  a perfect day with the perfect family…

if you’ve been following my blog for the last 10 years, you would have seen this kid transform from a little boy to a 16 year old man!  omg, i couldn’t believe how big he got!!!

bigger body, and bigger smile!

we’ve been surfing together for the past 10 years and Matsuda-san was at his best today.  super calm and super confident.

and super happy.

the joy of watching kids growing up throughout out years is a treat.  and to be able to connect in the ocean is even better.

Matsuda-san wanted more and more so we went bigger and bigger.  i was so impressed with his energy.

thank you boys for the amazing time.

then i took the Matsuda-san family to Chinatown for some dimsum lunch…  my favorite!

the service is pretty bad in Chinatown.  the staff get mad at me even when i ask for water.  and today, the waitress bumped my plate on my lap and acted like it was my fault.  haha.  but i’m use to it and just go with the flow because it’s just a culture thing.  it was pretty funny because the Matsuda-san family couldn’t believe it.  haha.   thank you to this lovely family for the past 10 years of amazing memories…

then we went to a very sacred temple that has hundreds of years of history, Izumo Taisha.   imagine if somebody wanted to build a telescope on it????  sorry, but that’s the way i’ve bene thinking recently.  can’t help it…

then went to Kelia Moniz’s house for a baby shower!  100 beautiful family and friends there to celebrate Micah and Ashley’s baby boy that will be hatched next month!   the Moniz Family is growing and growing.  and i’m happy and happy…

then went to pick up Arai-san for an amazing evening session.  the wind turned off shore, the waves started pumping, and we scored till sunset.  thank you everybody for another wonderful day in paradise…
