Ali’i Coffee: Is Espresso Coffee???

i just checked the surf forecast and there aren’t any South Swells coming anytime soon.  so now i’m getting back out my foil because this makes me happy.   another Chinatown experience.  i walked into this new cafe.  i love Chai Tea Latte so i was looking forward to one.   i see “Dirty Chai Latte” on the menu so i order it.  sounds so good!!!  and it looked so good too!!!  so i take this photo, then take a sip.  it tasted something like i haven’t tasted before so i took another big sip.  then i thought “omg, something is wrong!!!”  OMG, i just drank an espresso!  it’s coffee!  it’s the first time in my life i drank an espresso!  what???if you know me, i don’t drink coffee.  why?  because i just don’t and haven’t for 30 years.  why?  because it makes me hyper!  then my heart started beating fast, then i started sweating, then my eyes felt like it was going to pop out.   big mistake!!!

Hawaii People’s Favor and Flavor

i’ve been spending a lot of time in Chinatown.  mostly looking for cheap and good food because there are some hidden hole in the wall restaurants there.  and you won’t find tourist or tourist prices there either.  i wouldn’t go there if i was a tourist either because the chances of getting robbed are pretty high… i had to get some work done on my little project so i found the cheapest seamstress on the island.   and when you spend time looking for good food, you will be rewarded with good food!   this meal was amazing!   back to one of the most sacred mountains in the world, Mauna Kea.  it was Day 3 of protests and it’s very heartbreaking to watch this.  all the Hawaiian people want is to keep their sacred grounds sacred.  why is that so hard to understand?  if you support the TMT project, go put that in your own back yard.  it’s been so sad to see what Hawaii has become.  money has more power than the people.   so sad… and watching the Hawaiian police tearing was sad to see too.  these guys are family, these guys are relatives, and these guys are Hawaiians too.  of course they oppose the TMT project, but they also have to do their jobs so they can feed their families.  it’s not their fault at all.. and to see Molokai’s Walter Ritte on the island supporting the Hawaiians gives me chicken skin.   if it wasn’t for this man, every island would already be a Waikiki…some of the Kupuna “Hawaiian Elders” that were arrested today were actually some of the same Hawaiians who saved Kahoʻolawe.  so they know the significance of this issue.  i was heartbroken today because even though my family has been in Hawaii for 4 generations, it’s still the Hawaiian people’s land.  all the people who came later, including myself, should step back and really listen to them.  they have a very strong message and if you listen carefully, you will feel their pain.  and no, i’m not an activist or protester, i’m just a human being that traveled this world and learned that land shouldn’t be stolen like this.  i hope this gets resolved soon with the final outcome will be in the Hawaiian people’s favor…
