hanging out at the contest is super cool.  watching the legends all getting together and talking about the good old days.  Tommy Carrol, Tony Moniz, and Cheyne Horan.  all legends!  Cheyne is one of the most excited surfer you will ever meet.  i use to see him all over the world and every time we would talk, it would only be about surfing, surfing, and surfing.   and when you see legends teaching the younger generation about the waves, it’s a cool thing.  Cheyne told Tony that Seth has the ability to become a World Champion.  that says a lot. in the WSL locker room, Seth is the youngest rookie on tour.  and for a rookie, he’s started off the season like a veteran.  Number 5 in the world baby! see it, feel it, and do it!  go Seth!   back at our condo, the girls hanging out before dinner.  World Champion Kelia Moniz and World Champion Honolua Bloomfield face to face.  i just love talking to these girls.  so energetic and so talented. Kelia and Seth facetiming the Moniz family back home in Hawaii. my wonderful room on top of the Gold Coast! woke up this morning to the stars and sun rise.  another beautiful day ahead!  hope you all have a good one!  be back to Hawaii as soon as i can get a ticket out!

in Australia, betting on everything is legal.  and even betting on each heat in the WSL is legal too.  isn’t that crazy?  so you can bet everyday on your favorite surfer.

we always go to the sports bar to check out the odds.  it’s very interesting to see who’s favored to win the heat before it even starts.  nobody knows better than surfers right?

so when Griffin Colapinto was favored to beat Seth Moniz 3 to 1, i would have bet a million dollars on Seth.   but since i don’t bet, i just thought to myself “lots of people will lose money on this one.”

one smart player put down $50 on Seth and won $157.50.  so if i did bet, my $1M would be $3M in a day!  next year i might bet a million if the odds are like this again!

there is a casino downstairs from my hotel.  there are slot machines, beer, live music, and dancing.  such a cool place to hang out.

 being able to walk down to the beach on Finals Day is amazing.  and when your Nephew to still be in the contest is even more amazing.  i got chicken skin.. with thousands of people on the beach, and millions of people online watching this event, that’s pretty crazy. Coach Rainos preparing Seth for battle. how the heck can you smile like this before a huge heat like this??? Seth was the fan favorite by far.  after every heat, the people surrounding him became more and more.   then i seen this little kid running out of the pack of people with a red jersey??? Seth actually took off his contest jersey and gave it to this kid.  OMG, that is pure heart!!!  good boy Seth for making another kids dream come true.  getting 5th place made me proud, but his made me even prouder.   then the kid came running back after to get his Moniz jersey signed.  and of course, Seth signed it. back to our hotel room.  now that the contest is finally over, all the boys were ready to celebrate this huge accomplishment for Seth.   so they all get into the elevator and start singing and jumping.  i’m glad i didn’t get into that one and waited for the next one.  why?   because the elevator broke and they got stuck between the 10th and 11th floor.  haha.  they were in there for an hour and ended up crawling out.  it was so funny! then it was off to breakfast.  i think i’m addicted to Chai Tea Latte.  i love it!and the breakfast here is the best in the world.  thank goodness i’m foiling everyday or else i’d be super fat by now.   i’m still so full!!!
