Top Gun Japan: Clear Water Island

the college girls are in town so took them out for a SUP session.

and it couldn’t have been a better day for SUP’ing! so beautiful!

can you believe this is a man-made island? yes, you can find it right in the middle of the Hilton Lagoon. all the beautiful photos from today coming soon…

but first, wanted to share with you how clean the water in Okinawa is. you don’t even need a mask!

super good time with Carter. just going with the flow of the sparerib soba, and Orion beers…

happy to have gotten to foil a little. it’s crazy the feeling you can get by the smallest wave…

borrowing somebody else’s foil is scary because you never know how it’s going to pop up on your first wave. this is where you have to be confident and keep freaking calm. that’s the same facial expression i have on a 15′ wave on the North Shore. haha.

watching the fighter jets one by one all day long land at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa. thinking about Top Gun the whole time. then i go to a bar the next night and a friend introduces me to a Private Jet pilot. i say “wow, that’s so cool! just like Top Gun.” then he says “yeah, after i saw Top Gun, i had to become a pilot.” omg, that’s crazy!

Fridays: Bowls to Waikiki to Diamond Head to Secret

yesterday was a picture perfect day. good weather and good waves. stopped by Waikiki to check out the beach boys…

surfed this morning at Bowls and waves were good as usual. watched Nick Mita get a good one.

good style and good guy.

nice turn and nice guy.

then as i was paddling out, i seen Aoi get barreled! omg! so stoked for this kid because i remember a few years ago when i asked him what his dream was. he said to get barreled! dreams come true kid!

then checked Diamond Head this afternoon for a foil session. looked super good but i knew there was somewhere else even better.

and yup, perfect head high rights at a secret spot that nobody knows about.

i could surf the wave in, and surf the wave out. my new board is flying so fast i couldn’t control it at times. so stoked!

went to cool down at the Yacht Club.

watched the fireworks, then the World Series, then called it a day. a very wonderful day!
