Healthy Living: Making Kombucha

been doing this for many years now. and in those many years, i can feel my body so cleansed by drinking kombucha every single morning when i wake up. i have 3 jars so this will last me 3 weeks. and at $5 a bottle at some places, you can figure out how much money i’m saving. and plus it’s as natural as it gets…

i use simple black tea and cane sugar. i don’t really care for the fruity kind of kombucha. simple is better…

this is the key to making kombucha. this is called the Scoby. it’s like a mushroom that ferments the tea over time. and this thing even grows and grows.

put the tea in the jars, add in the scoby, and wait 3 weeks.

then bottle it up and put it in the refrigerator. each and every morning, i take my first sip and i’m wide awake ready for the amazing day ahead…

A Boys Birthday Present

wow, i just found this blog i forget to upload 7 years ago! i took my nephews out diving in town. i just watched the video again and i was cracking up. it’s true that videos never get too old. and to think this video was taken before any of the kids were even professional surfers. time sure goes by so fast… anyway, here is that post from October 2011. by the way, Seth just turned 14 years old on this day…

i will never forget the day i speared my first big ulua. it was near this very spot Seth caught his first one. mine was 15 years ago, Seth’s was a month ago. it’s cool to see the kids going out and getting into a sport that is healthy and great for your body and mind. not to mention, great meals too. i just hope they keep focusing on healthy sports instead of games and other distracting things that can take their minds of surfing. surfing will always be #1 but i hope diving rounds of the top 2. and remember kids “girls are always #3.” haha.

here is the story behind this video. it was Seth’s birthday so i wanted him to get his first big fish on this special day. i took him to my favorite refrigerator, i looked inside first, i seen an ulua in the back, i give him the go, he dove down, lined up point blank on the fish, took the shot, and missed!!! Oh my gosh!!!! luckily, he found another ulua after and didn’t miss that one. never give up!
