Hurricane coming: The calm before the storm…

Good morning 6:30am.
Ala Moana knee high and clean.
Diamond Head waist high and bumpy.
Trade winds at 15mph.
Sunny and very warm.

it’s so amazing how the drone can bring out so much more in a photo. just a small simple wave looks so inviting!

Toda-san tells me to paddle out, he gets out his drone, and we have the most magical session at Three’s, Waikiki.

i don’t know what i would do if i didn’t foil. this has brought so much enjoyment to my life.

Carter’s spending twice the time in the water these days. sometimes it’s hard for him to choose whether to surf or foil. not a bad problem because either is all good.

of all the surfers out that afternoon, Takami-san stole the show. she caught the best wave of the day. it just popped up and she was right there at the right time. this is the connection surfers have with the ocean.

and Takami-san also did the best maneuver of the day too. i had to replay this clip a few times because it was so amazing. i’m sure Toda-san was happy too because when your wife is happy, everybody is happy! haha.

another amazing day with another amazing family! lots of laughs, lots of surfing, and lots of eating.

once again, Ko-kun started off the session with the perfect form.

then Shun-kun went down to a smaller longboard size and did wonderful.

the most energetic was Papa Ryu-san riding the most waves.

totally calm and totally cool.

then it was my turn to get the shots. Ko-kun and Papa riding side by side.
