somebody asked me how to find these rainbows. easy. wait for a nice off shore day. go out in the morning and when you go over the wave, look right. there will be one for sure. and in the evenings, look left. enjoy!

Higeta-san was enjoying himself so much that i bet he didn’t even notice the rainbow behind him. haha.

first time surfing a reef break. and first time surfing in hawaii. you can understand how stoked any surfer would be. freedom!!!

and yeah, no matter how big or small the waves or how big or small my board is, i’m super stoked to be surfing too!

i taught Hikaru-san how to surf a few years ago. now, she is super charging! seeing results like this makes my job so rewarding.

most people don’t even know their limits. i can see it in everyone and i try to make the impossible possible. Hikaru-san making the impossible possible.

just another wave, another laugh, and another fun.

Chifumi-san charging the early morning session. cool surf mom.

Akoi is probably my favorite graceful surfer. she knows how to go with the flow and ride the wave just like how it wants to be ridden. no fighting it, no killing it, and no going against it. watch her surf and you will see a wave and surfer becoming one. it’s such a beautiful thing to watch.

then had an awesome session with Yumi-chan this morning. omg, you should have seen this girl ripping and smiling all morning long! another story on impossible being totally possible!
Impossible is Possible
Hawaiian Vacation: Where is the Rain?
if you didn’t realize it by now, the weather report is always wrong. so many tourist that come to hawaii look at the weather forecast and it usually looks like this:

shocking! i would be shocked too if i booked a lifetime trip to paradise and the weather forecast looks like this! let me explain: in hawaii, we have what we call “trade wind” weather. it’s when the north/east winds come over the tall mountains. the same tall mountains that attract clouds. clouds turn into rain. so if you look at the mountains every morning, you will see rain. i know this all to well because i live in the mountains. it rains every single night and most mornings. but come 8am, it’s sunny.

so sunny that it is blazing hot. hot sun, but cool winds. what more could you ask for? this very morning, i drove out of the raining valley and ended up at the super blue sky beach in 15 minutes.

then when i drive home, i can see the clouds over the mountains. i know it’s going to rain and produce the most colorful rainbow.

i live in these mountains. like i said, i rains everyday. no need to water plants, no need air conditioning, and no need wash your car. unless you wash your car so often like me and watch it rain right when you’re done wiping it down. i use to get go upset, but now i just laugh when it happens. haha.

then drive out of the valley and see the blue sky again. that’s why i love my house so much. it’s very cool and when i want to get hot, i just drive 10 minutes to the nearest beach. can’t beat it!
back to the weather forecast. the state of hawaii has to put rain in the forecast because it actually rains almost everyday in the mountains. but if you live near the beach or stay in waikiki, you will most likely not feel a drop of rain all day long. so don’t be fooled by the weather report. just come to hawaii and if it does rain, get out your cameras because a beautiful rainbow will follow. enjoy!
