Mama and Papa Iwata: Into the Wild!

left my house this morning heading into the rainbow. i knew it was going to be an awesome day!

had the great day with Mr. and Mrs. Iwata-san. we had 3 days of fun last year. we got so close so i feel like they are my own Mama and Papa. so that’s what i call them. bummer their daughter Noriko-san couldn’t come this year. but omg, we had a full day of fun into the wild! surfed for 2 hours and had a blast!

then went to my secret dim sum restaurant in china town.

yes, everybody loves it here!

especially the sweet sour cabbage noodles.

and especially especially the sesame balls!

then needed time to digest so we went into the wild! it was so beautiful!!!

found my avocado tree and had some ripe fruit! i was thinking and thinking of how to get it. all the avocados are super high up in the tree and the tree is hanging off a 400′ cliff. Mama and Papa told don’t even think about climbing it. i said “ok.” but in my mind, i wanted to climb it.

so when Mama and Papa went into the deep forest for a hike, i started walking back to my car to wait for them. then Mama yelled back to me “don’t climb the tree!” haha. she knew that i was going to try. haha.

dirty pants. not the right clothes to go into a muddy mountain with. oh well, it’s only dirt right?

Papa’s feet were so dirty! haha. after having a great time in the mountain, we all wanted to jump back into the ocean again to clean up.

from the time we left the top of the mountain and got into the ocean, it took us less than 30 minutes. that’s why i tell people that hawaii is the best! where else in the world can you be deep in the forest high in the mountain, then 30 minutes later be deep in the blue ocean? look how dirty Mama’s pants were. haha. she’s so cute!

and yes, it was a gorgeous day! picture perfect all day long!

Mama and Papa tried snorkeling for their first time in their life on maui the other day. it was snorkeling in knee high deep water right off the shore. i call that beginner snorkeling. so today, i took them into the waves, current, wind, and deeper water. i call that expert snorkeling. pretty much into the wild for them. it was an amazing experience! i have some amazing footage on my camera. coming soon.

Mama and Papa were super stoked to see the beautiful underwater world i love so much. a life changing day for sure.

then ended it off with bubbies mochi ice cream. i bet Mama and Papa Iwata will be sleeping good tonight. i sure will. thank you both for a wonderful day of all kinds of wild activities! and thank you Noriko-san for letting me enjoy this beautiful day with your awesome parents. i’m sure you will hear all the stories when they get back to japan tomorrow. we had a blast!!!
Keep Calm: World Traveler 2015

Keep Calm and Go Nature!

Keep Calm and Go Naminori!

ok, 2015 is coming down to an end. it’s going to be october next week! OMG! my new years resolution was to travel once a month so that means i have to take 3 more trips before the year ends. so i jump on the travel routes and search for a place to go. gosh, it’s a big world out there isn’t it?

checking all my options, looking for open flights, and when the day comes, i’m on a flight to somewhere. and as of right now, your guess is as good as mine.

this was like a forgotten trip for me. Palau on March 11, 2011. we were diving with sharks and all kinds of fish. then the earthquake and tsunami hit japan. from that moment, all i could think about was the people in japan. it’s over 4 years later and i still don’t remember too much about that trip. but i do remember swimming with this 14′ hammerhead shark. it was pretty awesome!

the first of 3 trips will be japan! heading there next week! only this time, i won’t be taking my slippers. it will be cold so i’ll be in shoes and a jacket. looking forward to seeing my friends and eating awesome food. see you soon!
