had a great time surfing with Abe-san from Ishinomaki this morning. i couldn’t believe how good he got. this is the 3rd consecutive year and Abe-san’s surfing is getting better and better. so stoked to see him ride so many perfect waves this morning. when we took this photo, it was raining. yeah, super sunny blue sky but raining? only in hawaii.

yesterday and today was supposed to be heavy rain. somebody made a mistake in the forecast. and i want to thank him for that.

i’ve been looking around for a place to stay. my friend is coming to hawaii in november so i thought it would be better for him to live with foreigners in a local style kind of living. i found a nice place in kaimuki kind of near my house. much more relaxing than waikiki.

a private room in a local house cost around $700 to $1,300/month. this room is in between at $1,050/month. not bad huh?

here is another saying i keep on my desktop. “IF IT’S MEANT TO BE, IT WILL BE.” i’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. good or bad, things happen and we just have to accept it and move forward. we can’t force things to happen, we can’t plan things to happen, things just happen. that’s how i live my daily life and that’s what gets me through the good and bad times.
last, check out this video of 2 free dive buddies trying to go deep to chase a prized fish. i do this many of times and after watching this video, i might think again before exceeding my limits. “IF IT’S MEANT TO BE, IT WILL BE.” but for these guys, “IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE.” lucky he is alive!

i don’t remember the last time it was so warm in october. the temperature is warm, the wind is warm, and the water is warm. it’s actually pretty scary. scary, but beautiful scary!

want to thank Goki-san for sending me these photos. Masuda-san is a famous comedian that came to hawaii for a week to film. i taught him how to surf and we had a great time. he stood up on his first wave and kept on doing crazy things to make me laugh. super stoked to meet such a cool comedian.

a lot of people must have seen this because a lot of people sent me emails about it. it’s crazy how powerful television is.

i even let Masuda-san borrow my Dove Wetsuit. a comedian turned surfer in just one day. haha. thank you again Goki-san and everybody who sent me emails about this show. i still haven’t seen it but i’m sure this comedian made fun of my loud voice. haha.

every since my first boat trip in 1993, it has always been my dream to someday own a sailboat and sail the world. i’d probably do the full asia tour because that’s where i love the most. great waves, great weather, and great people. have my close friends fly to some airport where i’d pick them up and just search for surf. dive, fish, relax, and just enjoy the simple ocean life. so when i was sitting on our boat in the Banyaks on the last trip, i kept on looking at this sailboat anchored in the bay. i took this photo and now it’s on my dream board. a dream of mine for 21 years and still counting. i’m in no rush because my life is too busy now. but when i retire, this is where you will probably find me. and if you are my friend, you will be more than welcome to come anytime. see you then!
